When Mylze Moore loses both her travel writing job and her beloved aunt at the start of the summer, she needs some direction to get her life back on track. She heads to the mountains to prepare her aunt’s lake cabin for sale only to discover it’s in worse shape than she ever could have anticipated. With the help of her best friend Lina, she decides to tackle the DIY project and use it to bolster her travel blog at the same time. But things get tricky when she needs assistance from Jeff Matthews, the only contractor in town—a man who is constantly getting on her wrong side. Plus there’s her demanding sister Rachel breathing down her neck to quickly finish things so they can sell the cabin and split the profits.
In Summer at Caroling Creek, Mylze learns new skills, falls in love, and finds a strength she didn’t know she had. It makes for a perfect beach read or light read anywhere, no matter the time of year. The enemies-to-more storyline is well told from both points of view, providing a satisfying story that reminds us of the importance of family—both those we’re born into and the ones we choose for ourselves. I highly recommend this lovely novel for anyone looking for an uplifting read.
